How to Fix: Ownership Conflict or Access Request Stuck
#

Your profile shows “Request access” but there’s no response after 3-7 days, or you’re locked out of your own listing.

Step-by-Step Solution
#

Step 1: Determine Current Ownership Status
#

  1. Search for your business on Google Maps
  2. Check if you see “Own this business?” or “Request access”
  3. Note who currently has ownership (if visible)

Step 2: Request Access Through Proper Channels
#

  1. Click Own this business? or Request access
  2. Fill out the form completely
  3. Provide proof of ownership:
    • Business license
    • Utility bill
    • Lease agreement
    • Tax documents

Step 3: Wait for Current Owner Response
#

  • Current owner has 7 days to respond
  • If they don’t respond, you automatically get access
  • Check your email for notifications

Step 4: Escalate If No Response
#

After 7 days with no action:

  1. Click Support in Google Business Profile
  2. Select Ownership and access issues
  3. Explain your situation
  4. Upload proof of ownership
  5. Request manual review

Step 5: Provide Additional Proof
#

Google may ask for:

  • Business registration documents
  • Official business correspondence
  • Utility bills in business name
  • Photos of storefront with business name
  • Articles of incorporation

Step 6: Remove Previous Owners (if applicable)
#

Once you have access:

  1. Go to Users in your dashboard
  2. Remove any unauthorized users
  3. Update contact information
  4. Secure your account with 2-factor authentication
